Smith & Wilkinson is a best-in-class executive search firm located in Greater Portland that specializes in permanent placement executive search.  Currently, our clients are Community Banks, Credit Unions, Insurance Companies, Not-For-Profits and Associations, Retailers, and Healthcare Providers, and they utilize the services of our firm to find key hires for mission critical roles.  Our Recruiters use a combination of sales acumen, industry expertise, and interpersonal finesse to find and attract these executives to our clients.  When our clients make the hire, we get paid a fee.

Here’s the bad news:  This is a difficult job, we work really hard, and like any craft it takes time to achieve mastery, so you need to be ready for a long term commitment.  Even for the best in the business, the work can be frustrating, ambiguous, and unpredictable, and you need to have exceptional discipline and faith in yourself.  Finally, the reality is, you won’t know (and we won’t know) that you’ll be good at the job until you actually do it.  This job is not for the faint of heart!

What we’re looking for:  We are an entrepreneurial company, and we are looking for entrepreneurs.  In many ways we are like an incubator for just one business, recruiting.  We provide the physical space, the technology, the training, the intellectual property, and the cash-flow to allow entrepreneurs to develop their own business within our business. 

We have several immediate openings for Account Executives to join our growing team.  In all likelihood we are looking for sales professionals with experience in direct business to business sales, but we are open to exceptional talent with a different background under the right circumstances.

  • Charisma, interpersonal ability, and a great intuitive feel for people.
  • The ability and discipline to consistently execute a high volume of work.
  • Innate curiosity, a powerful working memory, and above average intelligence.
  • Exceptional executive level communication ability, verbally and in writing.
  • B2B sales experience and/or entrepreneurial experience.
