Our client is a large financial services holding company headquartered in Norwich, NY. This is a full-service community bank offering a complete range of retail and commercial banking products as well as trust and investment services.

We are looking for an Audit Manager who will be responsible for managing audits and assisting with projects in accordance with established methodology, policy, procedures and standards in order to independently assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidance; and to assess, monitor and enhance internal control. This person will manage audit staff including their on-going training and development to ensure adequate knowledge and expertise to carry out the audit plan. They will assist with the development and presentation of content to the Audit Committee, manage the execution and assist with the development of the audit plan and schedule, and assist with the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the department’s annual and ongoing Risk Assessment, Audit Program, Procedures, and Methodology. Specialization in an assigned area (Wealth, IT, Lending, Compliance, etc.).

 

Primary Tasks

  • 50% Organize, direct and manage the conduct of audits and assist in projects to ensure they are completed independently, on time, and in accordance with established methodology, policy, procedures and standards. This includes the training of audit staff, planning, scope development, execution, detailed review of work papers and all other tasks needed to ensure support for the audit conclusion is appropriately documented.
  • 20% Oversee the preparation and communication of audit findings and reports, including presentation to management, development and evaluation of action plans, and distribution of draft and final reports.
  • 15% Assist with development and maintenance of the audit program/schedule, including the annual and ongoing risk assessment.
  • 10% Perform leadership and management duties, including performance appraisals, coaching, promotions, salary recommendations, etc. In addition, ensure audit staff maintains appropriate technical, audit and soft skills needed to sufficiently and completely execute audit assignments.
