Community & Regional Banks

Stamford, CT

Due to an upcoming retirement, Smith & Wilkinson has been retained by First County Bank (“FCB,” in Stamford, Connecticut to manage the search for the bank’s next head of Commercial Lending.

With approximately $2B in total bank assets, First County Bank is one of the premier mutual banks in the region. Founded 170 years ago, FCB has been a reliable financial partner to consumers and businesses in lower Fairfield County and beyond for generations. The bank’s prudent balance sheet management, measured growth, and commitment to the communities it serves has differentiated the franchise in a crowded marketplace. Further, in an industry and geography that has seen tremendous consolidation, FCB’s steadfast resolve to maintaining its mutual ownership structure and local decision making has positioned the bank to continue as an independent, community-focused financial institution for years to come. Through its Foundation, First County Bank Foundation, Inc., the bank has supported area nonprofits through over $10MM in charitable giving.

The bank serves its consumer and business customers through a full suite of competitive loan, deposit, and wealth management products and services. For the period ending March 31, 2021, FCB had an approximately $1.3B loan portfolio, comprised 60% of 1-4 family residential mortgages, with the balance in Commercial Real Estate, C&I, and Construction loans. In addition to traditional loan and deposit offerings, the bank’s relationship-based approach to supporting its customers is enhanced by its wealth management division, First County Advisors, which offers investment, trust, and planning solutions. The bank is in strong financial condition, with good earnings, efficiency, asset quality, and capital. FCB operates 18 retail locations in Fairfield County and has a modern mobile and online offering that allows customers to stay connected to their money from anywhere.

Reporting the bank’s CEO, the Senior Vice President, Chief Business Banking Officer will join a collaborative senior management team and lead an important division of the bank that has seen consistent and planned growth. The bank has a seasoned and respected team of commercial bankers that support an approximately $375-390MM loan portfolio. We are seeking an exceptional commercial banking leader with proven sales leadership results, mature leadership competencies, and a collaborative and team-oriented approach.  For additional information about this unique community bank leadership role, please contact: Cameron Boyd, Managing Partner, Financial Services Practice (
