Smith & Wilkinson is proud to support Make-A-Wish Maine through the Adopt-A-Wish program. Although we have donated to Make-A-Wish in the past, every donation benefits a different child and it’s always exciting to see the wishes that Make-A-Wish organizes for each. This winter, we were so thrilled to be a part of one little boy’s wish.
Nolan is six years old and lives in Hallowell, Maine with his parents and his younger brother. Nolan’s wish was to become a Jedi. Following a bone marrow transplant, Make-A-Wish sent Nolan and his family to Disney World, staying at the Give Kids the World resort, a 79-acre resort close to all of Orlando’s amusement parks that provides weeklong, cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Nolan participated in the Jedi Training Academy and he and his family enjoyed a sunny vacation from the cold Maine weather. Make-A-Wish had more surprises for Nolan, too – he and his family were surprised by Jedis at the airport when they returned home.
S&W is proud to have been a part of this amazing experience for Nolan and his family. Make-A-Wish is dedicated to giving each child a perfect day, and Nolan’s Wish was no exception. Wish recipients have shared that their Wish makes a big difference to their quality of life. Many Wish Kids feel that having their wish granted had a direct effect on their recovery, and Wish Families treasure the memories made during Wish experiences.
Make-A-Wish has granted over 254,000 wishes nationwide since their inception; support from our community ensures that wishes continue to be granted.
